A recent Toronto Life piece is not sitting well with Edmontonians who take pride in their province.."I moved to Alberta and hated everything about it. After three months, I came back to Toronto" was written by Jackie Thomas, who moved from Mississauga to Edmonton and back to Mississauga..Thomas is now slamming the province for her misfortune of a trip.."I had lived in Mississauga my entire life. After the pandemic, I needed a change. I had friends in Edmonton, and I’d loved the few three-day work trips I’d spent there over the years. I’m single, and it sounded like there was an active dating scene," said Thomas in the poorly written article.."I left my job as a training manager for Little Caesars Canada, gave up my one-bedroom condo rental near Square One, which cost $1,750 per month, and moved to the suburbs of Edmonton.".Thomas admitted in her article she's a major extrovert who goes out three to five nights per week.."I like music, noise, and nightlife," Thomas said..Thomas moved into a quiet Albertan town 30 minutes south of Edmonton and asked locals where the lounge was..She was amazed when locals replied: replied, “What do you mean by a lounge?”."The buzzy city energy I craved was missing. Edmonton was nothing like what I remembered from my brief visits despite the fact that I went to some of the same bars and hangout spots," Thomas said.."It was as if, the moment I started paying property taxes there, the dating scene had gone dormant.".Thomas told readers she leased her place in Edmonton’s suburbs.."I had bought low and wanted to let the place’s value grow before selling and planned my move back to the city. It was mid-October, and there was already snow on the ground in Alberta," Thomas said.."After a snowstorm, the plows had taken days to clear the streets. If this was a preview of winter, I thought, I couldn’t leave soon enough.".Albertans were quick to defend the province on social media to Thomas with some inquisitive questions.."I cannot handle this Toronto Life piece. You moved 30 minutes south of Edmonton? This is like moving to Pickering and saying that living in Toronto is boring," Ben Gelinas said.."Also, we have Cactus Clubs, if that's the terrible thing you're into. I cannot handle this.".Another Albertan slammed Thomas, saying her article was "providing the pure joy of hate-reading."."Imagine moving to Orangeville or Orillia and then telling everyone how much living in Toronto disappointed you," another Twitter user said..Edmontonians claim Thomas's piece does not give the entire picture of life in the province.."Guys, we don't have to all hate read the Toronto Life piece," Alex Boyd said.."If a confused Torontonian doesn't want to live in a canola field because there isn't a Cactus Club there, that's their business."
