A Calgary man arrested on 39 outstanding warrants, now faces 32 new charges in relation to drug and weapons offences, including breaches of a 10-year firearms prohibition order..According to the Calgary Police Service (CPS), a tip from the public earlier this summer led police to suspect the man was participating in activity consistent with drug trafficking, including the use of firearms.."A two-month investigation concluded on Tuesday with the execution of search warrants on two apartments and two vehicles," CPS stated..During the searches police say the following items were seized:.A loaded handgun and two unloaded handgunsAmmunitionTwo high-capacity magazines containing ammunition$53,400 cash217 grams of cocaineTwo kilograms of methamphetamine700 grams of fentanyl30 oxycodone pillsSix grams of crack cocaineDigital scale and money counter."The illicit drugs have an estimated street value of more than $342,000," the CPS stated..Alexander Corbett, 30, of Calgary, was arrested on 39 outstanding warrants for possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property, possessing identity documents, possessing a weapon while prohibited, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, choking and numerous breaches of court conditions..“We thank the public for coming forward with information that led to the successful investigation into drug trafficking and gun violence within our city. Removing these illegal drugs, weapons, and ammunition from our streets will prevent further harm in our community. If we want to tackle gun violence in our city, this is one way in which the community can help. No tip is insignificant,” Staff Sgt. Kurt Jacobs said..Corbett now faces an additional 32 charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime over $5,000, careless storage of a firearm and a prohibited device, knowingly possessing a firearm without a licence, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, possession of a weapon obtained by crime and failure to comply with the condition of release, including conditions not to possess any weapons and firearms..He remains in custody and will next appear in court on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022.."Our efforts to address gun violence rely on strong community support.
