The Alberta Parents’ Union is saying "no" to the Calgary Board of Education’s proposal to relocate a program for pregnant teens to Jack James high school in Calgary after a Tuesday stabbing at the facility.."The Calgary Board of Education is attempting to move the extremely successful Louise Dean Centre for unwed teen moms still in high school to Jack James high school in the Forest Lawn neighbourhood of Calgary," Alberta Parents’ Union executive director Jeff Park told the Western Standard via email.."The closest LRT station is Marlborough station where stabbings are common and this week a pregnant woman was attacked with a hatchet.".On Tuesday, Calgary police were called to Jack James High School after a stabbing. When police arrived one student was located with minor injuries and was treated by EMS on the scene..The school was temporarily placed into lockdown while officers worked to confirm details about the incident as well as the last known location of the suspect..Upon review of the CCTV from the school, police identified a potential suspect and confirm they fled the school immediately following the assault..A short time later police located a 13-year-old male and took the teen into custody without incident. ."The investigation is ongoing and there are no further risks to safety of students at Jack James High School. At this time charges are pending," the Calgary Police Service stated..The Calgary Board of Education insisted in the past the safety of the teen moms entering Jack James high school in the proposed move is their "number one priority."."A 13-year-old boy that does not attend Jack James was able to enter and stab another student," Park said.."We at the Alberta Parents' Union believe these women when they say this location is not safe and call upon the Calgary Board of Education to do the same.".Park claims the Calgary Board of Education decided to move forward very quickly with the closure of the Louise Dean Centre, a school program for pregnant teens and young mothers..The school board trustees vote on November 29.."They've said it is safe, that no one can enter the school who shouldn't.
